Vintage Deficiency

Sorry for the long gaps between blogs. I've been in a "slump" lately. My days have been much more busy and stressful. So between the lack of time and just being worn out, vintage hasn't been too prominent in my days.

In what simple ways do you incorporate vintage into your everyday life?

  1. well, I work in a warehouse so it really isn't practical for me to wear vintage everyday...I mostly save those outfits for the weekends and evenings. But I do wear my vintage earrings everyday and do my makeup in a vintage style. I also usually just set my hair in pin curls at night for easy curly hair. I hope your days get better soon:D

  2. I have bought three vintage dress patterns from the 50's at a thrift store, with some old fabric (all of this very inexpensively), and sewed the dresses. I have been wearing them. Fun! You can see them on my other site: http://theheartofmary.blogspot.com if you scroll down a ways. I made 3, for a total of 6 posts.

  3. Thanks, Ladies. :) I have a week off and will hopefully be hitting a few thrift stores and vintage shops — that should get me back to normal again! ;)

  4. I hope you are feeling better, and I hope your thrift store hunting was good:)
Most of my furniture is vintage, and so are a lot of my everyday items-especially kitchen items. I also do most of my sewing on a vintage Singer, and I wear my vintage 49er jacket around the house when I'm cold. I like your blog background by the way-the old photos look fantastic!!
    Have a great week!

  5. Thanks, Valerie! :) I did find a couple of vintage things, and should be doing a post on them soon. Is sewing on a vintage machine challenging at times?

  6. All in all I like a vintage one much better because the old machines are so heavy and sturdy. I have a brand new modern machine and it's mostly made of plastic and has a cheap feel to it (and it was anything but cheap) -but-it can do many more stitches than my Singer that only does straight stitching. My old Singer also won't sew with anything but cotton thread (I have no idea why) whereas my new one doesn't care what I use. The stitch quality seems better on my old one too-but it could never sew knits or something like chiffon. I guess it's a trade off, but in the end I would definitely go with an old machine:)
